STAND TO (2)
Stand 2/TO/TWO is a state of alert/readiness assumed by troops at key times, traditionally dawn and dusk in combat and training in preparation for combat operations. All troops are to be alert and have weapons ready for action.
When Jesus went to pray in the garden of Gethsemane, he instructed his disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” Then He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” (Matthew 26:36). Jesus had his disciples "STAND TO" in preparation for His upcoming battles in Gethsemane, trial, beating/scourging, and crucifixion.
Listed below are some "STAND TO" actions to take in anticipation of attacks by the "enemy." The Apostle Paul commanded, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:10-12). The Apostle Peter said, "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. " (1 Peter 5:8). Jesus prayed incessantly to the Father and we are commanded to do the same.
